Get Better Sleep With CBD and Melatonin

We’re sleep people (but also, who isn’t)?!? While we don’t appreciate the post-golden hour happy hours, we loveee getting the delightful darkness and extra hour of sleep from daylight savings (that is dropping by in just a few days, by the way).

 But for some, an earlier bedtime isn’t enough to suffice the sh*tty night of sleep that lies ahead. Over 80 million Americans struggle with sleep disruptions and disorders, and like surgeons or sushi buffets, half-decent sleep doesn’t do the job.


 What happens when you hit snooze on sleep?

Ideally, you should aim for a minimum of 7 hours of sleep a night. It’s imperative for your cognitive, behavioral, and physical functions. When you don’t get your 7 hours, not only are you tired, short-tempered, and foggy, but you could be putting yourself at risk for serious underlying health conditions. To name a few:

  • Lowered sex drive (yes, we think this is serious)
  • Weakened immune system
  • Increased risk of cancers and diabetes
  • Decreased heart health (higher risk of coronary heart disease or stroke)



There is hope for you walking zombies out there who have followed all the rules, cut your screen time, bubble bathed, and still can’t achieve a full night’s sleep. Tools like CBD and melatonin work internally to provide your body with the restful sleep it needs, and we’re here to explain how!



If you were to only do one thing to improve your nighttime routine, it would be to take CBD. CBD works in a few different ways to lull you to sleep. First, it supports your Endocannabinoid System (ECS), which works hard to regulate your sleeping cycles (among several other systems in the body). Because the ECS’s goal is to provide balance throughout the body, not only will you get a dreamy night of sleep, but you’ll wake up feeling refreshed, not groggy. Some studies have found decreased cortisol levels upon taking CBD. Cortisol is known as the “stress hormone” and causes increased heart rate and blood pressure (gross). CBD also has anti-anxiety effects, calming the mind and body. So this naturally calming supplement will help to mitigate the anxious thoughts that often keep us tossing and turning.

All that said, if you really want to double down, try taking your CBD with melatonin. Melatonin (aka the sleep hormone) is naturally produced by the pineal gland in the brain and also helps to regulate your body’s internal clock (or circadian rhythm).



Melatonin essentially tells your body it’s bedtime. As the sun sets and it creeps into the evening hours, your melatonin levels begin to rise on their own. Exposure to blue light (yes, your TV, computer, and phone all emit blue light) can suppress the production of melatonin and neutralize its effects. By taking melatonin an hour or so before bed, you’ll supplement your body’s natural levels and signal to your brain that it’s time for bed! Then, taking CBD with melatonin will actually help you stay asleep, (equally as important)! 

 CBD with melatonin is a powerful natural remedy for sleeping problems you may be experiencing. The best part about these two is they aren’t going to “hit you” like a heavy-duty sleeping pull would, so you’ll drift away and still be able to wake up in the morning…feeling refreshed, if we may add.
