5 Myths of CBD

Myth vs. Fact: Do you know the difference?

At this point, literally everyone and their mothers, maybe even their grandmothers, are talking about CBD.

Where to get it, how to use it, what to look out for… but can they, or you, really tell the myths from the facts?

Not sure? Take a gander at these commonly misunderstood questions and let’s find out.

Does CBD get you high?

Myth: CBD comes from marijuana so of course CBD oil gets you high.

Fact: This has to be the single most pervasive myth about CBD oil, but don’t be fooled. It is 100% a myth! CBD alone will not get you high. The confusion stems from a misunderstanding of the relationship between marijuana and CBD, but the reality is they’re more like cousins than twins. Here’s the thing, CBD is typically derived from hemp. Hemp and marijuana both fall under the Cannabis family, but so do 170 other plants. So really, really distant cousins.

Is CDB oil legal?

Myth:  CBD is illegal just like marijuana, but you might be able to get a prescription or buy it legally in some states.

Fact: CBD is actually legal in the United States according to Federal law. It just has to meet three requirements: 1) it must be derived from hemp, 2) it must contain no more than 0.3% THC and 3) it must be grown by a licensed producer. Coming in hot with Fact #2: Yes, Wild CBD meets all these requirements and does you one better with a guarantee that all Wild CBD products are 100% THC free.

Do I need a CBD prescription?

Myth: Without a CBD prescription, using CBD is illegal.

Fact: CBD doesn’t have the same intoxicating effects as THC and therefore can be legally sold and used without a prescription according to Federal law in the United States.

What is CBD oil good for?

Myth: CBD is only useful to treat pain.

Fact: Like many myths, this one is actually founded on a nugget of truth: CBD can help combat pain. The potential benefits of CBD definitely don’t stop there however. CBD works with your Endocannabinoid System (ECS) to fortify systems supporting your immune defense, inflammatory response, appetite, mood, and more. See what all the buzz is about now?

Does CBD make you tired?

Myth: CBD is a sedative and will make you drowsy.

Fact: CBD is associated with sleeping better, but that’s not because CBD is a sedative. Feeling more rested when taking CBD is more likely due to addressing anxiety and stress, or other underlying issues that were keeping you up in the first place. Feel better, sleep better and skip the drowsiness… Almost sounds too good to be true right? Luckily it’s not!

It’s easy to see why there is so much confusion, but hopefully this helps sets you (and your mum) straight once and for all!
